Welcome to another edition of Sunday Stamping! To say I love the way this tag turned out would be an understatement. It may be one of my most favorite stamped tags ever.
This woodgrain background stamp has to be one of my new all time favorite stamps. There are so many possibilities for ways to use it. I started this tag with no direction in mind, I just wanted to stamp that stamp. I inked it up with Walnut Stain Distress Stain.
I love the soft lines you get when stamping with Distress Stains. I love that they flow and kind of bleed a little. Next, I used an ink blending tool to brush on Vintage Photo Disress Ink over the entire surface as well as adding dark edges to the tag.
Next I stamped this fun flower and swirl stamp on the tag using Jet Black Archival ink.
I wanted to add fun bright colors to the stamped design so I used an assortment of Letraset Promarkers. I love the way they colored over the Vintage Photo. They stayed bright while still have a bit of a muted vintage look. I started coloring without thinking about what coloring over Distress Inks might do to my markers. I checked several by scribbling on plain white paper. I didn’t have any discoloration on the markers or on the color on the paper. (That is a very good thing since I colored with quite a few colors before thinking about what I might be doing to them!)
I stamped a little birdie on a scrap piece of manila tag. I colored him blue to make him a sweet little bluebird. I used a craft knife to cut open a slit on the tag around the edge of a leaf to create a perch to set the birdie into. I used a black Sakura Glaze pen to give his eye a shiny finish. I added a 3D Zot behind the birdie to hold him in place and to also raise him up off of the background.
I added a banner cut from another scrap of manila tag. To darken the color of the tag, I colored it first with a marker (Sandstone) and then applied Vintage Photo Distress Ink randomly on the surface and then along the edges. I misted the banner with Biscotti Perfect Pearls Mist for a little sparkle. After drying the banner, I stamped a phrase using my favorite letter stamps and Plum Archival ink.
As I was working on this tag, I knew that I wanted to add a phrase or words. I was stumped about what they message should be. I kept thinking about the little birdie just finding a bit of rest in a beautiful place. That is when the phrase from a favorite song came to mind, “you will find rest” from the Jeremy Camp song Let it Fade. Many wishes to you today for a bit of rest in a beautiful place.
