To create this card, I started with a blank card front and a piece of #23 Kraft-Core Cardstock (light sand color) cut to fit the card front. I embossed the piece of cardstock using the Christmas Backgrounds & Borders Texture Fade. After embossing, I sanded the surface lightly. I inked over the surface using an ink blending tool and Fired Brick Distress Ink. After drying the ink, I misted the cardstock with Biscotti Perfect Pearls Mist. I added Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the edges of the embossed cardstock. After drying the ink, I adhered the cardstock to my card front and added machine stitching around the edges of the card front.
To decorate the card, I die cut pieces of wool felt using the stocking pieces of the die. I also cut the cuff, heel, and toe pieces out of cotton batting. I used Therm O Web’s SuperStik glue stick to adhere the white accent pieces to the batting and then to the green stocking. I love this glue stick for fabric applications because in addition to being a great paper adhesive, it is also a fabric adhesive that can be sewn through without making a mess of my machine or needle. Glueing them in place is much easier than trying to pin them. After adhering the pieces I sewed them in place and then adhered the assembled piece with SuperTape to my card front.
To embellish the top of the stocking, I die cut manila cardstock with the Tattered Poinsettia die. I selected the two smallest pieces from the die to use on my card. I applied Aged Mahogany Distress Stain to the die cut pieces. While the stain was still wet, I applied Picket Fence Distress Stain to the center of each flower. I then misted each flower with water to help blend the two colors of stains. After blending, I used a heat too to dry the two flowers. Once dry, I misted both pieces with Forever Red Perfect Pearls Mist. I again used a heat tool to dry the pieces and then added Vintage Photo Distress Ink with an ink blending tool to the edges.
I die cut a small tag from manila cardstock using the Tiny Tabs & Tags die (a must-have die!). I stamped the word “JOY” on the tag. I sandwiched the tag between the two flowers. I placed a Custom Fastener through the center of all three. I tied a bow using red and green Paper String and attached it along with the assembled flower piece to the top of the stocking.
This little stocking is such a fun shape! I am looking forward to recreating the stocking and flowers from this card as ornaments to embellish packages and my tree this year. I love that there are so many possibilities with this die!
