I have a stockpile of stamped Christmas cards from CHA this summer that I have saved to share. I thought it was a good time to start sharing them now that we are in the Christmas season. The first up is this simple stamped card featuring this super cute vintage style Santa from Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous.
I created a card base from a heavy weight natural colored cardstock. I used an ink blending tool to apply Fired Brick Distress Ink around the edges. I stamped the starburst design from the stamp set onto the background.
I tore a piece of white cardstock to fit the front of the card. I stamped the Santa design onto the cardstock using Jet Black Archival Ink. I scribbled colors of Distress Markers onto my craft sheet and used a water brush to pick up the color and paint it onto my stamped image. I used a black glaze pen to accentuate the harness and reins on the reindeer.
I used an ink blending tool to apply Salty Ocean Distress Ink to the sky area of my stamped piece. I wanted the sky to look dark as it moved to the edge of the card so I applied the ink very lightly toward the center even leaving some white areas and applied it heavier and darker as I moved out. I applied Vintage Photo Distress ink with an ink blending tool around the outer edges to darken them even more. I love the areas where the blue and brown blend. Finally, I drug the edges of the stamped piece on top of a Black Soot Distress Ink pad to give them a bold edge.
I adhered the stamped piece to the card front. I used an ink blending tool to brush Fired Brick Distress Ink lightly onto some crinkle ribbon. I wrapped the ribbon around the card and tied it in a bow. I used Jet Black Archival Ink to stamp the phrase Merry Christmas onto the ribbon.
This image was so fun to color and ink! I love the whimsical vintage style of it. I loved how quick and simple this card was to make too! It is definitely one that would be easy to duplicate multiples of for holiday card sending.
