Merry Christmas! I am so thankful each and every day for all who visit here and check out what I have to share. I truly appreciate your visits, comments, and emails. I send you all the happiest wishes for a Merry Christmas from me and my family!
Today I have the final holiday card to share with you today from this summer’s CHA show. This one is simple, but so pretty. I am not sure if the photo does it justice since it is so shimmery and pretty in person.
The base of the card is a natural colored blank card. The edges have been inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink using an ink blending tool.
To create the shimmery cardstock front, ink a snowflake embossing folder with clear embossing ink. Ink both the raised and recessed areas on the non-printed side of the folder. Place a piece of blue cardstock from the Distress Cardstock Stack in the embossing folder so that the front of the cardstock faces the inked side of the folder. This will make the snow flakes recessed on the cardstock instead of being raised. After embossing, immediately sprinkle the cardstock with a combination of clear and white sparkle embossing powders. Heat the powder until it is melted. When the piece is embossed, the ink is transferred from the folder to the cardstock. It transfers to both the background and the recessed areas but creates an outline around the design that is free of ink so it does not take glitter. Finish the cardstock by trimming it to fit the front of the card. Use an ink blending tool to apply Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the edges and onto the front of the card as desired.
To embellish the front of the card, stamp the snowflake blueprint design onto vellum using Jet Black Archival Ink. After the ink is dry, turn the vellum over. Use a Picket Fence Distress Marker to color in the snow flake. After the marker ink is dry, the white will show through on the front of the vellum. Trim the piece to fit the card front. Apply Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the edges. Machine stitch the vellum to the front of the cardstock. Adhere the cardstock and vellum piece to the front of the blank card.
Finish the card by tying Paper String and Tinsel around the front of the card. Add a holiday Muse Token for a finishing touch.
The timing of this snow flakes card is fitting considering we are expecting snow in St. Louis later today. I am already making plans to have a studio day in my new warm fuzzy slippers!
Warm and merry wishes to you!
