I have another card to share with you today that would be great for Valentine’s Day. I created it with birthdays in mind, but I think it would make a great Valentine card, or even as a card for a friend anytime you want to make them feel special!

The base for the card is a Ranger jumbo #12 manila tag. I am a big fan of using these jumbo cards as card bases. I used an ink applicator tool to apply Broken China Distress Ink around the edges. I wanted to keep the color light, so I left the main part of the card plain manila. I also added a very light touch of Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the edges. I finished the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink. Since the inside edge of the tag shows when the card is closed, I finished the inside edges with ink also.

I stamped the Queen of Hearts Blueprint image directly onto the front of the card using Jet Black Archival Ink. I also stamped the image on manila cardstock two times. I used the Sizzix eclips and Stamp2Cut cartridge 20 to cut out different elements of the design from those extra stampings. For the framed word “queen”, I edged the piece with Vintage Photo after cutting it out and then adhered it over the matching stamped word on the card front.

I used a Picket Fence Distress Marker to color the frame of the card image (a piece cut out using Stamp2Cut) and the background of the inner part of the card. For the background, I cut one card image out whole to use as a base to layer the other elements onto.

I used various colors of Distress Markers to color the queen and hearts, which were also cut out pieces with Stamp2Cut. I finished the Queen card by applying Black Soot Distress Ink to the edges of the card.

After assembling the pieces of the queen card, I layered it with two Alpha Cards. I added a yellow border with a Distress Marker to the backside of the Alpha Cards. I sanded the edges of the two cards lightly to knock off some of the finish so that I could apply Black Soot to the edges. I adhered the two Alpha Cards face down on my card front. This is a great use for cards that have letters on them that you might not otherwise use. I curled the cards slightly so that they wouldn’t lay flat when adhered to the front of the card.

I dyed a piece crinkle ribbon with Broken China and Salty Ocean Distress Stains. After crinkling and drying the ribbon, I tapped a little Black Soot Distress Ink with my ink applicator tool. I wrapped the ribbon around the card tying it in a simple bow on the front. I added a Tiny Attacher staple on each side to keep the ribbon in place. I added a small die cut tag cut from manila cardstock and inked with Antique Linen Distress Stain and Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I added “for a day” using small alphabet stamps. I used a single strand of Paper String to tie the tag to the bow.

I placed an adhesive foam square to keep the tag in place and lifted up off of the front of the card.
My favorite part of this card? The blue blended ink with the black edge. I love the way they look on the manila. Add in crinkle ribbon and I am swooning!
