Hello there again! Today I have a card to share with you that is such a fun idea. This one is a Christmas card, but you could easily use the same concept for birthdays, Valentines, graduation, and more!
Begin by cutting a piece of cardstock (I used Tim Holtz Core’dinations Shattered Cardstock) to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. Fold the cardstock in half so that you create a vertical card. Use an ink blending tool to apply Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the edges of the cardstock.
Cut a piece of pattern paper (Tim Holtz Merriment) slightly smaller than the front of the card. Crinkle, wrinkle, and curl the paper. Use an ink blending tool to apply Vintage Photo Distress Ink over the surface and on the edges. Adhere the paper to the front of the card.
Sew around the edge of the cardstock and paper.
Die cut a heart from pattern paper and cotton batting. Apply a Remnant Rubs sentiment to the front of the heart. Use a glue stick to glue the paper heart to the batting heart. Use an ink blending tool to apply Vintage Photo Distress Ink the edges of the heart.
Die cut a pocket from pattern paper using the Arch Frame die. Use an ink blending tool to apply Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the edges of the paper. Adhere the paper piece to a piece of cotton batting. Use pinking shears to trim around the pocket so that you leave only a small batting border. Leave an extra half-inch or so along the top edge to fold down as a cuff over the top of the pocket.
Fold the cuff over the top of the pocket and sew along the top edge. Sew the heart to the front of the pocket. Sew the assembled pocket to the front of the card leaving the top open.
Die cut to mini candy canes from white cardstock. Use a Festive Berries Distress Ink marker to add red stripes to the candy. Use an ink blending tool to apply Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the edges of the candy cane. Tap the surface of the candy canes with Distress Embossing Ink. Coat the candy canes with clear embossing powder. Heat the powder with a heat tool to melt it. Insert the finished candy canes into the pocket. You could also insert a gift card in the pocket for a card that doubles as a gift!
Use an ink blending tool to apply Vintage Photo Distress Ink lightly to some Crinkle Ribbon. Tie a bow using both Crinkle ribbon and Trimmings Red & Cream ribbon. Place a wire pin through the bow. Glue the assembled bow to the corner of the pocket.
Loop a piece of red and white Paper String to the pin. Tie two Adorments Skates to the string as charms.
I love how this card turned out! It was so quick and easy and have so much vintage shabbiness!
I will be back again tomorrow with another Tim Holtz CHA project. I hope you will come back and check it out!
