How adorable is this snowman? I love him madly! It is a new die from Tim Holtz and Sizzix, the Assembly Snowman. I made this card featuring him for CHA and I think it turned out so cute! I am thinking I may even tackle making Christmas cards for the first time with this design.
To create the card, cut a piece of kraft cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. Fold the cardstock in half to create a side fold card. Cut a piece of pattern paper (map paper from Tim Holtz Merriment Paper Stash) to 8 1/4″ x 5 1/4″. Use an ink blending tool to apply Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the edges.
Cut a piece of light-colored paper to 5 1/4″ wide by 2 to 2 1/2″ ish. Tear the top edge so that it looks like sloping ground. Tap Picket Fence Distress Paint over the paper. Dry the paint with a heat tool. Use an ink blending tool to apply Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the edges. Tap over the paper with clear Distress Embossing Ink. Sprinkle the ink with clear embossing powder. Heat the powder to melt it. The embossing powder will add texture and shine to the “ground”.
Adhere the map paper and the “ground” to the front of the card. Machine stitch around the card front as desired.
Die cut the snowman out of manila cardstock. Paint the body of the snowman with 2 coats of Picket Fence Distress Paint. While the paint is still wet, sprinkle clear embossing powder onto the paint. Use a heat tool to dry the paint and melt the embossing powder. Tap on a third coat of paint and more embossing powder if desired. Use an ink blending tool to apply Black Soot Distress Ink to the edges of the snowman. You could also sprinkle Clear Rock
Use an ink blending tool to apply Black Soot Distress Ink to the hat. Color the remaining pieces with Distress Ink Markers (Ripe Persimmon, Festive Berries, Forest Moss, Walnut Stain, and Black Soot). Assemble the snowman and adhere him to the front of the card with adhesive foam squares.
Apply Foil Tape Sheets to manila cardstock. Die cut two clock pendulums using the Wall Clock die. Die cut a ribbon flag from manila cardstock. Color it with a Festive Berries Distress Ink Marker. Apply a Remnant Rub sentiment to the front of the flag. Use an ink blending tool to apply Black Soot Distress Ink to the edges of the flag. Punch two small holes on the flag and feed it onto one of the clock pendulums. Use adhesive foam tape to adhere the two pendulums end to end to the front of the card. Place them end to end to create on long flag pole.
Use red and white Paper String to tie a Word Band to the front of the card. Adhere Alpha Tiles to the front of the Word Band to add the word “Snow”. Adhere Label Letters to the snowman above the Word Band to add “Let It”. Finish off the front of the card with a Mirrored Star above the words.
Isn’t he so cute? I just adore this snowman die. I think this die is a “must have” for every die collection!
Be sure to check back tomorrow. I will have another project from CHA to share. I hope you will come back by to check it out!
