Today I have another Vintaj home decor project to share with you. Not long ago I went to Hobby Lobby to pick up some home decor pieces to make over for the show. They had tons of pieces that were embellished with faux vintage tin tiles and tin tile patterns. As I was shopping, I kept seeing things I liked that I *knew* I could make myself with Vintaj’s fabulous 6×6 embossing folders that feature tin tile designs.
For this particular piece, I found a wood tile attached to a metal easel on sale for 50%, making only $4! Wood tiles and plaques are some of my favorite pieces to pick up for DIY home decor. Even more fun, it had a printed paper design of tin tiles attached to the front of the wooden tile. The design was the same pattern that I followed. I simply covered the printed design with embossed Arte Foil pieces cut to match the same design. How easy is that?
I chose to emboss each section with a different Vintaj 6×6 Textured Impression embossing folder. I also painted each piece with a different color of Vintaj Patina. After painting each piece with a Patina, I used a reliefing block to knock some color off of the raised areas. I inked around the edges and some of the raised areas with Potting Soil Archival Ink. I added a Tim Holtz Mini Fastener to each corner. Although Arte Foils are self adhesive, I added extra glue (Helmar 450QD) to keep them firmly in place.
The large green tile at the base of the piece was embossed with the Nouveau Tiles folder and painted with Moss Patina.
The blue tile in the center was embossed with the Leaf Rosette folder and painted with Cobalt Patina.
The blue tile on the right was embossed with the Etruscan folder and painted with Marine Patina.
The top tile piece was embossed using the Moroccan Fresco embossing folder. It was painted with Quartz Patina with a little bit of Garnet and Marble mixed in to pink it up a bit.
The left side tile was embossed with the Iron Scrollwork folder and painted with Agate, Ochre, and Marble Patinas mixed together.
I love that this piece is like a sampler of different patterns from the Vintaj Textured Impressions collection. It was really a quick piece to create too! What a fun statement piece for my vintage style decor too. I love that with these folders I can create tin tile style art which is hot on Pinterest without having to find, buy, and cut up real tin tiles. Stylish art and DIY on the cheap! I love it!
