Today I have another home decor frame project from CHA to share with you. I created this frame using Vintaj Sizzix products and it was displayed in the Sizzix booth in the Vintaj display. It sure was great to have a picture of Jack at the show on display so that when I missed my pup a little I could take a quick peek at him!
This frame was so simple to create. I started with a pre-painted wood frame from the clearance aisle at Hobby Lobby. I embossed three sheets of Vintaj silver Arte Foil using a Vintaj 6×6 Textured Impressions folder. After embossing each Arte Foil sheet, I cut each one into four squares. I did this so that I would have smaller pieces to work with as I covered the frame. I peeled the backing off of the adhesive foil pieces and adhered them the frame, matching the patterns on one piece to the next.
After covering the front and sides of the frame I trimmed the edges with a craft knife. After trimming, I painted the foil with Vintaj Jade Patina. I used a Vintaj Reliefing Block to knock the paint off of the raised embossed areas.
To embellish the frame, I added a cream flower and two leaves from Petaloo. I also die cut two leaves from silver Arte Foil using the Vintaj Dancing Leaves die. I embossed the leaves using an included embossing folder. I painted the leaves with Moss Patina and used a reliefing block to buff the embossed areas. I added a small bow made from dyed Tim Holtz Crinkle ribbon between the flower and the leaves.
To the lower right of the flower I added an embossed dragonfly created with the Vintaj Asian Dragonfly Framelits Die and Embossing Set. I painted the dragonfly with Vintaj Cobalt Patina.
Above the flowers I added an embossed brass accent from Vintaj. I had this piece in my stash left over from a Vintaj jewelry making class I attended. I didn’t end up using it in the jewelry piece and thought it was far too pretty to not use some how. My solution, add it to the frame. If you want to see more of Vintaj’s metal blanks for embossing, be sure to check out their website: http://www.vintaj.com/.
This frame looks like it is involved but really, it was a very quick project. I love that for just a little bit of time I was able to create something so unique and give new life to a clearance aisle photo frame!
