Happy Thursday! On Thursdays I like to do a little thing I call Crafty Throw Back Thursday where I take a look back at a past project or tutorial. It is a great way for you to see some older tutorials you may have missed or revisit one you may have forgotten about. This week, I am throwing it back to December of 2012.
This tutorial is all about how to apply and blend Distress Inks. I don’t make videos often, but I did for this one so that I could show more easily he technique I use.
This tag also has a story. I created after the Newtown shootings. My heart was so heavy that week and what I felt came through in my art. As they often do, my tags turn into my own type of art journal. I often look for quotes that reflect what my art is saying and what I can’t seem to find the words for. When I stumbled across this quote, I knew it was the one. I also knew that the tree stamp that I had in my stash was “the” stamp to use. I think there is a combination of sadness and hope in this tag. Still to this day when I look at it I think of those sweet children and their families and weep a little inside for their loss. My hope is that they, as well as us, can find strength and can stand strong like the trees when difficult times come and linger.
