Happy Halloween! Today I want to share a tag with you that I created back in the summer when the new Tim Holtz fall stamps were announced. The design is particularly appropriate today as I am sweeping up around my web home and dusting out some cobwebs. I have wanted to do an overhaul here for a while and integrate my own cart and download delivery system for classes. Yesterday I got a crazy notion and just did it. I have lots of tinkering to-do behind the scenes still, but so far, so good! Now on to the tag…
Start with a Ranger #8 manila tag. Blend Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade, and Vintage Photo Distress Inks onto the tag using an ink blending tool. Add a bit of stamping with Black Soot Distress Ink to the background using the text stamp from the Mini Halloween 4 stamps set.
Pounce Black Soot Distress ink onto the tag through the Gothic Layering Stencil. While the ink was still wet, add clear embossing powder over the tag. The powder clings to the wet ink. Tap off the excess powder. Melt the powder with a heat tool.
Trace the tag shape onto a piece of plain vellum. Cut out the vellum tag shape. Tear the piece in half. Pounce Pumice Stone Distress Ink onto the vellum through the Shattered Layering Stencil. Dry the ink with a heat tool.
Stamp the dangling spider image onto the vellum using Black Soot Distress Ink. While the ink was still wet, add clear embossing powder over the tag. The powder clings to the wet ink. Tap off the excess powder. Melt the powder with a heat tool.
Tear and curl the torn vellum edge if desired. Brush the cut and torn edges of the vellum with Black Soot Distress Ink using an ink blending tool.
Adhere the vellum to the front of the tag. Sew along the cut edges.
Stamp the broom blueprint image on manila cardstock. Color the broom with Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, Walnut Stain, and Gathered Twigs Distress Ink Markers along with a waterbrush. Dry the piece well and cut out using fine tip scissors. Brush the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Go over the details of the image with the fine tip of the Black Soot and Gathered Twigs markers.
Adhere the broom the front of the tag on top of the vellum. Stamp a sentiment on the vellum using the Happy Halloween stamp from the Simple Sayings set.
I love how this tag turned out! I adore the crooked handled straw broom image and I love anything damask. Both combined, is pure spooky goodness!
