Happy Tuesday! Today I have a quick card tutorial for you that is perfect for last-minute holiday cards. This one is a stunner in person with a lovely shimmer from Perfect Pearls. Sadly the photos don’t do the shimmer justice, but trust me, if you make this one, you will want the shimmer so don’t skip it!
Scribble Picket Fence Distress Paint over a large rubber background stamp. Choose a stamp image that has large solid areas. (Stamp shown Hero Arts Floral Background.)
Place a piece of Ranger Manila Cardstock on top of the stamp. Rub over the surface of the cardstock to transfer the image. You can use any size of cardstock to fit the front of your card.
Lift the cardstock off of the stamp. The image won’t be crisp. The paint will vary in thickness.
Wet the stamp generously with water and wipe with a dry cloth to clean it.
Dry the cardstock with a heat tool.
Mist Antique Linen Distress Spray Stain on your craft sheet. Lightly mist with water. Drag the cardstock paint side down through the stain.
The stain will soak into the areas that do not have paint.
Blot the cardstock with a dry cloth. Dry with a heat tool.
Mist the cardstock with Biscotti Perfect Pearls Mist.
Blot the excess mist with a dry cloth and dry with a heat tool.
Ink the edges of the cardstock with an ink blending tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
Mist an oval die cut from manila cardstock with Picket Fence Distress Spray. I used the oval “scrap” from the Ornate Frame die.
Dry with a heat tool.
Sand the edges with a sanding grip.
Ink a script stamp with Coffee Archival Ink. Stamp the oval. (Stamp shown Hero Arts Old Letter Writing.)
Use an ink blending tool to apply Vintage Photo Distress Ink to the edges of the oval.
Paint a metal ornate frame with Picket Fence Distress Paint.
Sprinkle Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter lightly onto the paint. Dry with a heat tool. (Ignore the color on the frame on the right. It is bleed through from some other ink I had applied before.)
Randomly drip Alcohol Ink onto the metal frame. You will see that the glitter takes the color differently than the paint adding a color variation from just one ink color.
Allow the ink on the frame to air dry.
(optional) Add age by pouncing over the frame with Vintage Photo Distress ink and an ink blending tool.
Die cut an insert for the ornate frame using the Tag & Bookplate die. Ink the edges of the cardstock insert with an ink blending tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
Tape the insert into place on the back of the frame.
Stamp a sentiment on the cardstock insert. (Stamps shown Hero Arts Printers Type.)
Adhere the frame to the stamped oval. Place brands through the holes on the frame through the back of the stamped oval.
Mist Crinkle Ribbon with water. Scribble Fired Brick Distress Stain onto your craft sheet. Toss the ribbon around in the stain to color it.
Dry with a heat tool. Add age by pouncing over dry ribbon with Vintage Photo Distress Ink using an ink blending tool.
Tie a piece of Crinkle Ribbon around the card front. Leave two tails about 2 inches long.
Make a bundle of Crinkle Ribbon between your fingers or use the Fluffy Bow Template/Tutorial.
Lay the bundle over the tie of the ribbon on the card front.
Tie the two tails tightly around the bundle of ribbon.
Add a Tiny Attacher staple to the sides of the ribbon where it wraps around the card to keep it in place.
Place adhesive foam tape on the back of your assembled oval piece.
Adhere the oval to the front of the card next to the bow.
Finish the card by adhering it to a side fold card.
Next Tuesday I will have another quick last-minute card idea for you too. If you are still hard at work on Christmas cards be sure to check it out!
