It is time for another quick Friday Fun Fact! Today I am sharing the story about my Dear Ruby stamp.
My Dear Ruby is a collage of notes from my husband’s grandmother Ruby’s autograph book. In the early 1940s Ruby worked in an ammunition factory while her husband was at war. The women at the factory all wrote messages to her in an autograph book, many beginning with “Dear Ruby”. When we were given some things from their estate, I was thrilled to get the autograph book. I collect vintage paper goods and have a few other autograph books in my collection. This one though is different, it is a treasure. I love reading through the fun little notes about the moments Ruby shared with the other ladies. My favorite message is from her husband on the first page. It is featured in the center (the heart) of the stamp.
All who knew Ruby loved her dearly. The message from her husband says “my love for you will never be forgotten”. I am so happy that I could create a stamp that allows me to include a bit of that love in it. I hope it makes you smile like it does me every time you use Dear Ruby.
