Are you wondering why I create on tags and what I do with them afterwards?
You aren’t alone, it is the #1 most asked question I get. Here is the thing about me, I just want to create. I don’t care so much about what surface I am creating on as long as I can spend time being creative. I think some people create with a specific end purpose in mind, they need a “why” and some people create just for the sake of spending time creating. I am a create for the sake of creating person.
I think we all “connect” with a surface. Some of us prefer layouts, some are into cards, some love art journals. I happen to love tags. I think the main reason I connect with tags is because when I only have a short amount of time to create, I can make one from start to finish. I am not into projects that take several creative sessions to finish. I like that feeling of completion. My tags are often like an art journal for me. Everything I choose for each one, from the stamps, to the colors, the embellishments, etc all have a connection to the feeling or moment I have while I am creating. That is one reason I often use quotes on them, it is a part of the moment and feeling I am saving.
So what do I do with them when I done? Nothing. I don’t give them away because they are little bits of me. I display them baskets and bins my studio. You could put them in a binder, attach them to a card front, or send them as cards. I am happy with them being on display in my baskets where I can look at them easily and revisit them.
Here is an important thing to remember about every tutorial I share, the techniques, designs, and ideas can be adapted to any project. Just because I use a tag, it doesn’t mean that you can’t use a card, a canvas, or a journal page. Take the idea and adapt it to you, your style, your surface and most important, spend some time creating “just because”, don’t worry about the why.
