A Little About Me!
A little about me. . .
I am a lifelong artist and crafter. When I was growing up, my mother was a professional artist for many years so I grew up surrounded by art and hobby supplies. I have loved ribbon for as long as I can remember crafting. My love for ribbon started in the mid-80’s when barrettes woven with grosgrain ribbon were the “in” thing. I remember many outings to the local Walmart to gaze upon the rows of ribbon.
In the years since I have dabbled in many different mediums and hobbies but have always found a way to work a little ribbon in to everything I do. In the late 90’s I discovered silk ribbon embroidery and vintage style ribbon work. I was immediately captured by it and taught myself both through books. I love combining both silk ribbon embroidery and ribbonwork with vintage elements to create unique items that can easily become heirlooms and be enjoyed for years to come.
In the early 2000s I was introduced to scrapbooking and papercrafting. I resisted the urge to take up the hobby for a very long time because I knew that once I started I would need every bit of paper, every pen, every tool there was. I knew that since I had always loved office supplies that any hobby that involved cool paper and neat pens would be trouble for me!
I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work professionally in the papercraft market as a designer and instructor for more than 5 years. I have worked for many manufacturers in the industry by creating trade show samples, class samples, and magazine pieces. My specialty is altered pieces and home decor items. Among the manufacturers I have worked for are BasicGrey, Provo Craft and Cricut, Prima, Sweetwater, Pink Paislee, and Glitz Designs as well as others. My work for Provo Craft can be seen on television in their infomercial for the Cricut Expression.
When I am not creating, I am a busy wife and mother of three who loves anything and everything shabby, chippy, and vintage. I love to scour flea markets for old treasures. When the spring breezes are blowing, you can usually find me playing in the dirt in my flower garden.
